Tuesday, 9th of May , I had this interview with Teacher Haitham Ahmed who is responsible for Digital Library. Here you will find the questions and answers of the interview:
What are the library working hours?
| The library working hours are from 8:30 to 6.00 everyday, except Friday |
How many sections does the library have?
| We have two sections in ( enclosed area!) our library |
How many computers are there in the library?
| We have about 26 computers |
What kind of computers does the library have?
| All of the computers are Pentium 4 (PCs). |
Do you have a section for students and another for teachers?
How many computers does each section contain?
| In the section of Internet service , we have about 18 computers for student , four computers for staff and another four used for searching in Digital Library . |
Are all the computers in the library working now?
Who is responsible for fixing the damaged computers?
| The one who is responsible for fixing the damaged computers is an Engineer from computer center.His name is Yaser Hashim |
Which programs are installed on computers?
| We have many programs installed, like Horizon system, some programs to control Internet service like Net Support and another applications programs like MS- Office |
What peripherals are included?
| We have network printer, scanner and device called label printer. |
What type of Internet connection does the library have?
| We have DSL connection which is consdered the best connection until now. |
How much speed is the connection?
What are some of the problems the students encounter when using the Internet/computers at the library?
| The problems can be summerized into two points ; keeping quite in the library , which they never do, and using the Internet for chatting and other reasons irrelevant to education. |
Do you have a limited duration when using the Internet?
| Yes, each student have only one hour daily when using the Internet |
What is the Horizon system?
| Horizon system is a system used by librarian . It Allows all technical operations and technical library like classification search , research cataloging and it’s integrated system designed by Arab Advance Systems co |
Is it available for students to use?
| Yes , it’s available for any one to use whether he is from our University or a guest |
What are some of the problems that you face when working with students?
| Understanding of students of a "library" is not clear, so they do not know how to use it. They are is supposed to differentiate between a library and a lecture classroom. |
